Six Pioneers Garnered All-Conference Honors, With Hargather & Peed Earning Major Awards

Alfred, NY- The Alfred State women's lacrosse team saw six Pioneers earn AMCC All-Conference honors, with Karlee Hargather and Steve Peed earning major awards.

Karlee Hargather was named Offensive Player of the Year and First-Team All-Conference honors. The Hilton, NY native started all 16 games this year for the Pioneers. She led the team in multiple stat categories, goals (58), assists (44), points (102), caused turnovers (40), and draw controls (90). Hargather picked up 68 groundballs and scored 13 free-position goals.

Katerina Strong earned First-Team All-Conference honors as well. The Freshman tallied 48 goals, 20 assists for a total of 68 points. The Corning, NY also picked up 14 groundballs while causing six turnovers and having a .823 shot on goal percentage.

Alaina Gernatt was the next First-Team All-Conference honoree. Gernatt scored 35 goals and added 10 assists, while picking up 27 groundballs and causing 12 turnovers. The Sophomore from Gowanda, NY also tallied 42 draw controls.

Allison Bateson was the final Pioneer the garnered First-Team All-Conference honors. The Senior led the Pioneers defense all season. She caused 30 turnovers and picked up 68 groundballs. The Senior also added four assists and one assist this year.

Earning AMCC Second-Team All-Conference were Ella Fyock and Maeve Runyon. Fyock was another key piece on the Pioneers defensive end. She caused 25 turnovers and picked up 37 groundballs. Runyon has a 12-4 record in goal as she tallied 80 saves and has a 5.20 goals against average, and tallying 53 groundballs

Head Coach Steve Peed took home AMCC Coach of the Year after leading the Pioneers to a 12-4 overall record and a 3-1 conference record in his first season. Pioneers just secured the AMCC Title the past weekend which is the first in program history.

Karlee HargatherKaterina Strong , and Allison Bateson was named to the AMCC All-Tournament team. The Pios will return to action on May 2nd as they will take on St. Mary's College of Maryland in the AMCC x United East Crossover Championship game.
