Getting An NCAA ID

Starting in Fall 2026…

All first-time Division III student athletes

must have an NCAA ID before competing.

What is an NCAA ID?

An NCAA ID is your personal identifier through the NCAA Eligibility Center and is required to participate in NCAA athletics.

Who Needs an NCAA ID?

- First-time Division III student-athletes
- High school students planning to compete in college athletics
Already have one from Division I or II? You do not need another.

Important: You will not be allowed to practice or compete until you have an NCAA ID on file.

 

How to Get Your NCAA ID

usually takes 5–10 minutes
1. Visit the NCAA Eligibility Center
2. Select Your Option:
       3
– U.S. students (FREE)
      
 2 – International students (Certification fee required)
3. Create your account and get your NCAA ID
 

What You'll Need

- Your personal identification information
- High school  & sport information
- A valid email address (use one you will keep after high school)

Costs

U.S. students competing at the Division III level: FREE
International students: Certification fee

Already registered but don’t know your ID?

Use the “Find Your NCAA ID” option on the Eligibility Center website or call 877-262-1492

How Alfred State Uses Your NCAA ID

- Compliance forms
- NCAA Graduation Reports
- Transfer Portal (if applicable)

Do this NOW if you plan to play this fall!

? Create your account at the NCAA Eligibility Center
? Save your NCAA ID
? Submit your NCAA ID during on your compliance forms at Student-Athlete Orientation.
