Pioneers Secure the Win Over Panthers on Senior Night

Alfred, NY- The Alfred State women's lacrosse team secured a 10-5 win over Pitt-Bradford on Senior Night. The Pioneers improve to 9-4 on the season and 2-1 in conference play.

Karlee Hargather led the Pioneers on senior night with five goals, one assist, and six ground balls. Alaina Gernatt, Regan Curabba, and Brooke Walsh each added one goal and one assist. In the goal, Maeve Runyon earned the win with seven saves while only allowing five goals.

Gernatt opened the scoring for the Pioneers with a free-position goal. Pitt-Bradford answered back, tying the game with three minutes left in the first quarter. Hargather netted her first goal of the game off an assist from Regan Curabba. Ending the first quarter up 2-1.

Hargather carried that momentum into the second quarter, notching a man-up free-position goal. Shortly after, Walsh added a man-up goal with the assist from Hargather. The Pioneers continued to capitalize, with Curabba scoring and Hargather converting another free-position to extend the lead to 6–1 going into halftime.

The Panthers came out of the half scoring three goals. Hargather added her fourth goal of the night, and Francesca Viscuso earned a man-up goal assisted by Gernatt. Keeping the lead 8-4 heading into the fourth quarter.

Hargather recorded her fifth and final goal of the game on a man-up free-position attempt. Kari Annunziato capped off the scoring for Alfred with an assist from Katerina Strong. The Pioneers allowed the Panthers to score once more, making the final score 10-5.

The Pioneers are home again on Saturday, April 18, 2026, to finish out the regular season against Mount Aloysius. Opening draw is set for 1 PM.
