Alfred, NY - The Alfred State men's soccer team is set to open the 2025 season with excitement and high expectations. After winning the AMCC Championship in 2023 and capturing the regular season title in 2024, the Pioneers aim to build on their recent success with a refreshed roster and the same competitive drive to remain among the top programs in the conference.
Head Coach
Vince Correa is eager to get preseason camp underway:
"We are very excited to get into camp to begin our 2025 Season. The guys have been working extremely hard this offseason to prepare for a very intense and competitive preseason, in hopes to have an opportunity to compete for an AMCC conference championship. With many of last year's starters graduating, the coaching staff is excited for guys to step into bigger roles."
The Pioneers will lean on several key returners to help guide that transition. Senior midfielder
Henry Leahy, a First Team All-Conference selection, will anchor the team in the middle after a 2024 campaign that saw him score 10 goals with a .526 shot on goal percentage. In goal, Alex Preston returns following a strong season where he started 17 games, recorded 10 wins, and tallied 21 saves on his way to Third Team All-Conference honors. Leadership will also be a strength, as
Henry Leahy,
Brogan Cotter, and Mike Bupp have been named team captains for the 2025 season.
The season will kick off with added excitement as Alfred State hosts cross-town neighbors Alfred University in the inaugural
Alfred Cup at Pioneer Stadium on August 29. Other key home matches include Penn College on September 23 for "Hard Hat Night," Penn State Altoona on October 18 for "Senior Night," and Penn State Behrend on October 28 in a highly anticipated rematch of last season's AMCC Final. On the road, the Pioneers will be tested with tough non-conference contests against SUNY Geneseo (September 17) and RIT (September 20), as well as a critical conference clash at Mount Aloysius on October 11.
This year's coaching staff will feature Head Coach
Vince Correa, Assistant Coach
Mike Domm, Goalkeeper Coach
Chuck Domm, and Volunteer Assistant Coach
Craig Clark. With a demanding preseason, a challenging schedule, and a program culture built on hard work and resilience, Alfred State enters 2025 determined to compete for another AMCC crown and push the program to even greater heights.
