Alfred, NY- The Alfred State baseball team saw nine player garner All-Conference honors, with
Jordan Hughes taking home AMCC Newcomer of the Year, as announced by the conference office this morning.
Hughes took home Newcomer of the Year and Second-Team All-Conference honors. The freshman had a great year at the plate and on the mound. The Utica, NY native batted .292 on the year, tallying 50 hits. Of the 50 hits, he notched 18 doubles, eight homeruns, and a triple. On the mound, he had a 3.18 ERA with a 4-1 record and 26 strikeouts.
Ryan Bailey took home First-Team All-Conference honors for the third straight year. This season, he had a 3.56 ERA with a 5-4 record. The Union Spring, NY native pitched six complete games with a shutout and 83 strikeouts.
The other Second-Team honorees were:
Christopher Mattoon,
Anthony Snyder, and
Connor Kiefer. Mattoon put in a 7-2 record with a 5.36 ERA and two complete games. In his 80.2 innings pitched the Elmira, NY native, tallied 40 strikeouts. Snyder batted .316 on the season with six doubles and two bombs for 18 RBIs. The Buffalo, NY native also had a .994 fielding percentage. While Kiefer batted .325 on the year, putting in 50 hits. Of the 50 hits, he tallied 16 doubles, five homers, and a triple.
Then earning Third-Team honors were:
Michael Gangloff,
Zach Young,
Elijah Barinas, and
Devin Mersmann. Gangloff made 16 appearances on the mound this season, tallying four saves and 24 strikeouts. Young batted .316 on the year with 11 doubles, five homeruns, and a triple for 43 RBI's. Barinas put in another great year, as he batted .320 with five doubles and a triple, for 22 RBI's. Mersmann led the team in batting average (.331) and stolen bases (20). He also tallied eight doubles and a triple.
