Fort Myers, FL- The Alfred State baseball team suffered a loss to Haverford, to close out their Spring Break trip. The Pioneers ended the trip 4-4.
At the plate,
Matty Eygabroad went 2-3, while
Zach Young went 2-3 with a double and an RBI.
Joey Sanna went 2-4 with an RBI, and
Joshua Gardner added a double.
Nathan Lucks suffered the loss on the mound.
The Pioneers struck first in their opening at-bat, as they scored two runs.
Frank Grad led off with a single to right center. Young followed with an RBI double to left field for the 1-0 lead. Then Sanna tallied an RBI single to right center to make it a 2-0 game.
Haverford answered with a run in the second then four in both the fifth and sixth inning to take a 9-2 lead. The Pioneers were able to get two runs across in the sixth to cut into the deficit. Young led off with a single up the middle. Sanna followed with a single to right field. Two batters later, Gardner notched an RBI double down the left field line. Then an RBI sacrifice fly from
Logan Lutz made it a 9-4 game.
Haverford added to their lead in the top of the eighth on their way to a win. The Pioneers will return to action on Tuesday March 17
th for a game against RIT.
