Cresson, PA- The Alfred State Baseball team delivered two dominant offensive performances against the Mount Aloysius Mounties in their first conference double-header, as the Pioneers grabbed two wins, 20-5 and 10-6.

Game 1:

Jordan Hughes took the win for the Pios on the mound, where he recorded three strikeouts and only allowed eight hits. At the plate, three Pioneers cranked home runs, Hughes going 4-4 at the plate with seven RBI.
Zach Young also went 3-4, with a homer and a double, tallying five RBI.

ASC wasted no time getting on the board as Hughes sparked the offense in the first inning with a two-RBI single to center field, scoring Young and
Frank Grad to take an early 2-0 lead. They continued to break the game wide open in the second inning, erupting for eight runs on a string of timely hits. Young highlighted the inning with a two-RBI double, while
Gavin Lasko followed with an RBI triple down the right field line.
Joshua Gardner and
Logan Lutz each added RBI hits, while
Aiden Cowburn drove in two more runs on a single. A sacrifice fly from
Matty Eygabroad capped off the explosive inning, giving the Pioneers a commanding 10-0 advantage.

Their momentum rolled into the third, as Hughes launched a two-run home run to right field and Gardner added a solo shot to center, extending the lead to 13-0. The Pioneers never let up on the gas as they added three more runs in the fourth inning. The Mounties found their way on the board in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings. Hughes continued his standout day in the sixth inning, blasting his second homer of the game to make it 17-3.

The Pios added their finishing touches in the seventh inning as Young crushed a three-run homer down the left field line to seal the victory 20-5.

Game 2:

Caleb Wilson grabbed the win on the mound for game two, throwing 4.1 innings and striking out two batters.
Dillon Kelly took home the save. Hughes continued his streak at the plate, going 3-4 in game two, recording his third homer of the day. Grad notching a home run of his own and
Christian Morrison recording a triple.

After a scoreless start, the Pioneers struck first in the third inning.
Joey Sanna lifted a sac fly to right field to bring home Eygabroad for the first run. Later in the inning, Hughes reached on a fielding error that allowed Grad to score, giving ASC a 2-0 lead. Mount Aloysius chipped away, finding themselves on the board in the fourth inning and then again in the sixth as they took a short lead 3-2.

Alfred State responded in the eight inning when Grad launched a solo home run to right center, evening the score at 3-3. Shortly after, Hughes added a sac fly to bring in Young and give the Pioneers a 4-3 advantage. Finally, in the nineth inning, the game broke open as the Pios went on a six run rally. Lutz came around to score on a throwing error following a Cowburn stolen base to which Morrison added an RBI triple to extend the lead. A passed ball allowed another run, while Grad drove in a run on a groundout. Hughes capped off the inning with a two-run homer to center, pushing the lead to 10-3.

The Mounties attempted a late rally as they scored three runs, but the comeback fell short as the Pioneers secured the win 10-6.

ASC heads to Oneonta on Thursday to take on the Red Dragons for a singular game, first pitch set for 4 pm.
