Houghton, NY- The women's track and field opens the season with a good outing at the Houghton December Classic.
In the high jump, Emily Richardson opened her collegiate career with a sixth-place finish after jumping 1.57 meters. In the shotput, Janiesha Dureny  took home 15th place with a best throw of 9.30 meters. Jileena Stearns would take 19th place with a best throw of 8.58 meters. In the weight throw, Kenzi Gillette threw 11.64 meters to take 14th place, while Anna Koszelak (10.11 meters) finished in 19th and Dureny (10.11 meters) took 20th.
Olivia Plummer opened her season with an 11th place finish in the 800 dash.
The Pioneers with be back in action next year as they hit the road for the River Hawk Invite on January 18th.
