Pettit Wins Pole Vault - Pioneers in 3rd after Day One

Jordyn Pettit (Wellsville) won the pole vault title as the Alfred State women's track & field team competed in day one of the ECAC Championships. The Pioneers sit in 3rd place out of 15 teams that have scored heading into the final day of competition on Thursday.

Pettit won the pole vault with a mark of 2.90 m. She earned the title by winning the jump off in the 3rd round with Alyson Sharkley from Gwynedd Mercy.

Katherine Frascella (Franklinville) was 2nd in the 10,000 (52:39.29) and 4th in the steeplechase (13:39.70) while Marissa Sly (N. Tonawanda) is in 7th place after day one of the heptathlon (1,601 points).

In the 4x400 relay the Pioneers team of Sly, Mikaylah Ruhl (Whitesville), Emily Brigman (Lancaster), and Katherine O'Buckley (Queens/Francis Lewis) was 6th in 4:42.44

The action continues tomorrow with the multi events starting at 10 a.m.
