The Alfred State lacrosse team battled Methodist University tough but fell 16-6 as they wrapped up their spring break trip. 

Methodist scored the first three goals of the contest but the Pioneers cut it to 3-2 after the 1st quarter. The Monarchs held a 7-3 at half and a 10-5 lead after the 3rd. They put the game out of reach by outscoring the Pioneers 6 to 1 in the final quarter.

Teddy Alvarado (Hilton) recorded his third straight hat trick finishing with three goals and an assist. Aaron Buck (Churchville Chili) finished with a goal and two assists while Patrick Matkoski (West Genesee) netted two goals. Ryan Amidon (Fayetteville Manlius) made 14 saves.

Justin Layden led the Monarchs (7-3) with four goals and one assist.

Alfred State is back at it on Wednesday when they host Cazenovia at 4 p.m.
