Pios Secure Mid-Week Win Behind Bridges Dominant Offensive Performance

Alfred, NY- The Alfred State Men's Lacrosse team picked up a mid-week win against the Augustana Vikings, 16-6. The Pioneers are now 4-6 on the season.
 
Matthew Bridges recorded seven goals, leading the Pioneers to victory. Along with his seven, Griffin Doan garnered five of his own goals while Joseph Tiberio added four. 
 
 
The Vikings hit the board first, scoring two consecutive goals in the first five minutes of play. Bridges would then net two of his own goals late in the first period to tie the game 2-2. Doan notched his 23rd goal of the season in the beginning of the second period, assisted by Brendon O'Donnell. Bridges collected his third goal of the game a minute later. Augustana would grab one more goal of their own before the Pioneers went on a five-goal streak. Doan started that streak, netting two goals followed by two more goals from Bridges and one from Tiberio, 9-3 at half.
 
The Pios kept their momentum rolling into the third period, Doan recording his fourth goal of the day, assisted by O'Donnell. Tiberio would then throw up three goals of his own with Bridges adding one of his own, to give the Pioneers a steady 11-point lead. ASC would net one more goal and allow the Vikings to net two of their own before time ran out and the Pios took the win, 16-6.
 
Alfred State heads to Farmingdale State on Saturday, with a 3 pm start time.
