Purchase, NY- The Alfred State Men's Lacrosse team finished their weekend road trip with a 13-6 win over Purchase College. The win moves the Pioneers to 5–7 on the season.
Joseph Tiberio led the Pioneers with four goals, three assists, and four ground balls.
Mike Coburn added a hat trick, while
Matthew Bridges contributed two goals, one assist, and four ground balls.
Matthew Burris got the win in goal with seven.
Tiberio started the scoring for the Pioneers three minutes into the game, assisted by
Anthony Kuc. Purchase answered back with two goals before Pritchard got his only goal of the game. Tiberio scored his second, assisted by
Brendon O'Donnell, to end the first quarter, 3-2.
The Pios and Tiberio took that momentum into the second quarter, when he scored his third. Coburn added back-to-back goals, both assisted by Tiberio, and he scored his fourth and final goal, going into the half up 7-3.
Purchase made a brief push in the third quarter. Bridges responded, netting a man-up goal assisted by Kuc, and
Brendon O'Donnell scored shortly after to restore a four-goal lead entering the fourth, 10-6.
Alfred State controlled the final quarter, outscoring Purchase 3–0 in the final period. Coburn completed his hat trick, followed by goals from
Richard Andres and
Ryan Batson to seal the 13–6 victory.
Alfred State will take the week off, picking play back up on Tuesday, April 7, at home, when they take on SUNY Delhi at 3 p.m.
