SUNY Cobleskill outscored Alfred State 5-1 in the 4th quarter to secure a 11-6 victory in the Pioneers season opener. The Tigers improve to 2-1 on the year.

Alfred State started off fast scoring the only three goals in the 1st quarter but Cobleskill answered back with a strong 2nd quarter in which they outscored the Pioneers 6-1 to hold a 6-4 halftime lead. The Pioneers scored the lone goal in the 3rd and tied the game early in the 4th quarter but the Tigers scored five unanswered goals in the final 12:33 of the contest to seal the victory.

Alex Acompora led Cobleskill with five goals while David Meyers finished with a goal and three assists. Kyle Magdzuik netted two goals, Chris Wright had a goal and an assist, and Anthony Yevoli had a goal. Cobleskill held a 36 to 30 shot advantage.

Clifford Brooks led the Pioneers with a hat trick while Teddy Alvarado (Hilton) finished with two goals. Aaron Buck (Churchville Chili) had a goal and an assist while Nathan Serio (Silver Creek) was credited with an assist.

Eric Randazzo made 15 saves for Cobleskill to earn the victory while Ryan Amidon (Fayetteville Manlius) made 11 stops for the Pioneers.

The Pioneers begin a four-game spring break roadtrip on Saturday with a 4 p.m. faceoff vs. Alvernia.
