Alfred, NY- The Alfred State Athletic Department hosted the annual Athletic Banquet "The OXSPY Awards" (OXcellence Sports Performance Yearly) on Monday night. The event was a success here are all the award winners from this year's show!
Pioneer Honor Award:
The Pioneer Honors distinction is given to an individual that has gone above and beyond to aid the mission of the athletic department during the past year.

Justin has helped immensely with assisting with team practices in the sports of softball, wrestling and track and field in the Wellsville gym. He has been a tremendous supporter of our teams and student athletes. Congratulations!
William Havens Award:
The Williams S. Havens Award is given to the person within the athletic department who has gone beyond the call of duty in making the greatest contribution in aiding the mission of the athletic department during the past year.

Matt is in his second year as the Strength and Conditioning Coach and has done an outstanding job pushing every athlete across all programs in the weight room. He advocates for, encourages, and supports each team, while remaining in a constant and positive presence within the department. On behalf of all the athletes and coaches, we would like to thank and congratulate you on everything you invest in your role.
The Pioneer Student Service Award:
The Pioneer Student Service Award is given to students who go above and beyond to support the Athletics Department throughout their time as a Pioneer.

Eli has been a big contributor for the past three years as he learned and began stating and calling games, broadcasting events, preparing and tearing down events, and communicating diligently with his fellow student workers, staff and programs.
Jenna has been a consistent presence in the athletic department during her time as a Pioneer. She has dedicated her time to learning stating, calling, broadcasting and even photography. She also takes on the duty of staying after hours to clean her team's jerseys.
Madisyn is known to be at almost every home event and even travels to take all of your favorite action shots! Her skills behind the lens are widely appreciated by athletes to coaches. Behind the scenes, she also helps with stating and calling when needed!
The Athletic Department would like to thank these three Pioneers for all their hard work and dedication; it does not go unnoticed.
Iron Athlete Award:
The Iron Athlete Award. Iron Athlete is given to a student athlete that has endured hardship and has persevered above and beyond their circumstances. They epitomize hard work, effort, tenacity, and grit.

Becca is a junior outside hitter on the volleyball team who transferred to A. State this year from Keystone College. Over the past year, she has faced significant adversity, including dealing with ongoing health challenges. Despite it all, Becca has never stopped showing up for her team. Every day, she brings relentless effort, works tirelessly to improve her game, and consistently puts her teammates first. Congratulations, Becca!
Play of the Year Award:

Marcus Roney came away with a one-hand interception against Alfred University in the Alfred Cup game, that helped power the Pioneers to a 35-28 win.
Academic Awards:
The Alfred State Academic Awards honors a male and female athlete who have competed in athletics for at least two years, while achieving the highest overall grade-point average during that time.

Eric Spring is a four-year member of the men's soccer team. He currently has a 4.0 cumulative GPA in Electrical Engineering Technology.
Ella Fyock is a member of the women's soccer team and women's lacrosse team. She currently has a 4.0 GPA in Mechanical Engineering.
Newcomer Athlete of the Year:
The Newcomer of the Year Awards are given to the male and female athletes who have made the largest impact upon ASC athletics and exhibited good character in competing in their first year as a Pioneer.

Matthew Bridges had a tremendous freshmen debut for the Men's Lacrosse team. Matthew has started in all 15 games this season as an attacker, scoring an impressive 50 goals, recording a .667 shot on goal percentage. He also tallied 16 assists, 66 points, 68 groundballs and has caused 23 turnovers. Matthew was also named 2026 HCLC Attack First-team all-conference. His presence on the field has and will continue to lead the Pioneers to success. Congratulations, Matthew!
Gloria Stem was a key contributor for the Volleyball team this season, as an outside hitter and a right side. Gloria started in all 27 matches, tallying 314 kills, 255 digs, 40 aces and 16 blocks. She set two school records, kills per five set match with 26 and points per five set match with 28. In the conference, she is fourth overall in kills and was also named AMCC Newcomer of the Year and Second- Team All-Conference. Gloria will continue to be a threat on the court, offensively and defensively! Congratulations, Gloria!
The AD Awards are presented to student-athletes who have exhibited success during competition, in the classroom, been involved with SAAC, community service, and supporting the Athletic Department throughout their career.

Henry is a four-year midfielder on the Men's Soccer team. He was named 2025 AMCC Offensive Player of the Year and is a two-time first team all-conference honoree. Henry also earned NCAA DIII Men's Scholar All-American honors and was 2025 United Soccer Coaches NCAA DIII Men's Second Team All-Region. In his final season, he led the conference in goals with 14 and in points with 35, while also tying for first in assists with seven. Henry concludes his playing career with 68 games, scoring 24 goals, tallying 13 assists and 61 points. He will be graduating in May with a degree in Business Administration! Congratulations, Henry!
Nicole is a four-year member of the softball team, playing first base and catching. She currently has a .355 career batting average, 119 hits, 23 doubles, four triples and a home run. In four years, she has tallied over 400 putouts with minimal errors to put her career fielding percentage at .944. Nicole was named 2025 third team all-conference, academic all-conference, and NFCA All-american scholar athlete. In the classroom, she has been on the dean's list for nine semesters in the arcitecture program! Congratulations, Nicole!
Athlete of the Year Award:
The Athlete of the Year Awards are given to the male and female athletes that have made the largest impact upon ASC athletics and exhibited good character throughout the past year.


Noah Currier had a standout junior season as he led the Pioneers in multiple categories statistically: 19 rushing touchdowns, 213 carries for 1,234 yards, 42 receptions for 357 receiving yards and 4 receiving touchdowns. Noah was named all-American running back and kick returner; first in program history. He also garnered Empire 8 first team running back and second team return specialist. Furthermore, Noah earned D3 All-Region first team offense as kick returner and second team for running back. He also was recognized by the ECAC second team running back. What a phenomenal season Noah, with another one ahead. Congratulations!
Karlee had a dominant junior year as a two-sport athlete, being a force to reckon with offensively in soccer and lacrosse. She played in 18 soccer games where she scored nine goals, tallied 11 assists and 29 points. Karlee holds the all-time record at Alfred State for assists. In the AMCC she was first place in assists and fourth for total points and named third team all-conference. In lacrosse, she led the Pioneers to the AMCC Championship as she's tallied 58 goals, 44 assists for 102 points. Karlee also was recently announced as the AMCC Offensive Player of the Year! Congratulations, Karlee!
Pioneer Legacy Award:
The Pioneer Legacy Awards are given to the male and female athletes who have achieved success on and off the field throughout their careers at Alfred State. The nominees have demonstrated Sportsmanship and Leadership, been involved in Civic Engagement activities, along with earning athletic honors during their career.

Conor is a four-year diver that has created a name for himself in Alfred State history. He is an eight-time Conference Champion and seven-time all-American. Conor has been a four-time Diver of the Year throughout his career. He has broken Alfred State's one-meter and three-meter diving records, as well as RPI, Fredonia and Nazareth Pool Records. In his last season, he was honored with the James Fulton Award at the SUNYAC Championships. Conor finished his career with two second place finishes in the one- and three-meter boards at the NCAA Championships. He will be graduating in May with a degree in Construction Supervision. Congratulations, Conor!
Sean is a four-year wrestler that has consistently dominated the mat for the Pioneers. He is a two-time Winter Cup Champion, three-time Scholar All-American, three-time AMCC Champion and Wrestler of the Year while never losing an AMCC match during his career. Sean is a two-time NCAA Regional Champion, two-time National Championship Qualifier and has earned three All-region honors. In his junior season, Sean became an NCAA All-American, placing fifth in the country at 184 pounds, the first in program history. He holds many program records such as career wins, single season wins, pins leader and single season pins. Sean earned the NCAA Statistical Champion for most falls, with 40 in a season, which is the most in a single season in NCAA history for all three divisions. Sean will be graduating in May with a degree in Automotive Service Tech. Congratulations, Sean!
Taylor Benjamin is a four-year guard on the women's basketball team. She started in 91 out of the 94 games she played. This season, Taylor surpassed the 1,000-career point mark, ending her career with 1,144 points, the third in program history to do so. She was named 2025 AMCC Second-team all-conference and is a two-time third-team all-conference honoree. Taylor was ranked fourth in the conference for blocks and defensive rebounds this season while leading the team in scoring, steals and blocks. During her senior season, she scored a season high 27 points versus AMCC conference foe, La Roche University. She will be graduating in May with a degree in Sport Management. Congratulations, Taylor!
