Alfred, NY - The Alfred State women's soccer program is heading into the 2025 season with high hopes after making the AMCC playoffs last season and finishing as the sixth seed in the conference.
The Pioneers tallied two All-Conference honorees last season, Karlee Hargather and Kendall Decker. Hargather played a huge role as she led the team with six goals and four assists for a total of 16 points on the season. She took home Second-Team All-Conference honors. Decker was garnered Third-Team All-Conference as she was a strong defender on the back line for the Pios last season.
Looking at the 2025 season, The Pios will have their first two games on home turf at Pioneer Stadium. The home opener matchup will be against Keystone College on Saturday, August 30th with a 1 pm kickoff. The following day ASC will battle against the Wildcats of Penn College at 3 pm.
After heading to Reading, PA for a game against Penn State Berks on September 6th, the Pios will return to Alfred as they will cross the street to take on the Saxons from Alfred University on Sept. 10 with kickoff set for 7:30 pm. The Pioneers will be looking to answer back after their loss against the Saxons 0-2 last year in their first recorded matchup. This time, both teams will be competing against each other as a part of the Alfred Cup.
On the 13th of September, ASC will head to Canton, PA to challenge the SUNY Canton Roos. Following, the Pioneers will have a three-game home stand. The matchups will be against Elmira College on September 17th at 7 pm, Thiel College on the 20th at 1 pm, and Houghton on the 23rd at 7 pm.
Alfred will begin their AMCC campaign with a game on the road against the Carlow Celtics on Saturday, September 20th with a time to be determined. The last both teams faced off, Alfred took the win on home turf 6-2. Afterwards, the Pios will return to home where they will face off against the Panthers of Pitt-Bradford on September 30th at 6pm. Both teams will be looking for a victory as their last matchup ended in a stalemate.
Kicking off October, Alfred will face the La Roche Redhawks at Pioneer Stadium at 4 pm on Saturday Oct. 4th. The next weekend the Pioneers will head to Cresson, PA on the 11th at 1pm to challenge the Mounties of Mt. Aloysius. Alfred will be looking to keep their momentum from last year as they were victorious with a 3-0 shutout.
Alfred's final home stay will be against Hilbert College on October 14th at 6pm and Penn State Altoona on October 18th at 1pm. The Pioneers will be looking to notch their first ever win against the Lions. Then on Saturday, October 25th, ASC will travel to Pitt-Greensburg take on the Bobcats with a kickoff time TBD. To cap off the regular season, the Pioneers will head to Erie, PA to face the reigning AMCC champions Penn State Behrend. Kick off is set for Tuesday, October 28th, at 7pm.
Head Coach Anne Holmok said," The coaching staff is excited to start preseason. Women's soccer team will be looking for a strong start to 2025. The pioneers have a talented freshmen class and a strong returning class and look to be a top finisher in the AMCC conference."
