Alfred, NY – The Alfred State women's soccer team took a home loss to the Penn College Wildcats 2-0. After the matchup, Alfred moves to 1-1 on the season.
Madeline Cox made her first start today for the Pioneers and garnered five saves.
The first half of the match saw a stalemate between both teams as neither side found the back of the net. Cox was a force inside the box as she tallied three saves before halftime.
In the second half, both teams continued to look for momentum. The Wildcats ended up finding just that as they broke the tie in the 67
th minute. After some time, Pios tried to find the net with a shot from
Gracelyn Teijeira but it was saved. Penn College followed with another score immediately after. The Pioneers continued to push for a goal but fell short as they lost the match 2-0.
ASC will head to Reading, PA next to face off against Penn State Berks. Kick off is set for Saturday, September 6
th at 1pm.
