Alfred, NY- The Alfred State Women's Soccer team defeated Keystone College 13-0 in their season opener at Pioneer Stadium. The Pios start the season 1-0.
Maddie Mark opened the scoring with an unassisted goal 1:15 into the game to make it 1-0. Two minutes later
Kaitlyn Howell scored her first collegiate goal adding a second for the Pioneers. ASC was able to continue their offensive dominance the first half adding 8 more goals from the likes of
Stella Carretto,
Estella Watt,
Jillian Wright, and
Gracelyn Teijeira to make the halftime score 10-0 in favor of the Pioneers.
11 minutes in the second half
Isabella Hoffmann was able to notch her first collegiate goal to make it 11-0.
Emily Collins was also able to add her first collegiate goal and
Erin Drewiega scored as well to finish off the game 13-0 in favor of Alfred State.
Maddie Mark finished the game with a hat-trick and one assist,
Estella Watt and Stella Caretto were able to chip in with two goals of their own, and
Karlee Hargather finished the game with two assists. Goalkeeper
Kate Sproul was able to pick up the win in goal with
Madeline Cox playing in the second half to complete the shutout.
The Pioneers will be home again tomorrow Sunday 8/31 as they take on Penn College at 3 pm.
