Alfred, NY- The Alfred State Football team has the 2025 schedule set for their first year in the Empire 8 conference. The Pioneers are coming off back-to-back ECFC (Eastern Collegiate Football Conference) Championship titles and NCAA Playoff berths.
The Pioneers have 10 games slated for the 2025 season with three non-conference match ups and seven conference games. Head Coach Scott Linn stated, "I can't wait to take the field with our team this season. We have a great mixture of returning veterans and hungry newcomers who are all ready to compete! We could not be more excited about joining the Empire 8 Conference. We are looking forward to competing against other New York schools".
ASC will open the season on the road in Anderson, IN on September 6th for a battle against Anderson University at Lapel High School with kickoff set for noon. The Pioneers opened the 2024 season with a 13-0 win over the Ravens and will look to repeat that success. Then the Pioneers will head to Hamburg, NY to take on Hilbert College at Saint Francis High School on September 13th, kickoff is set for noon. After two weeks on the road the Pioneers will have their home opener against Buffalo State on September 20th for Homecoming. This game has a 6 pm start time, and the Pios will be looking for their first win against the Bengals.
Following homecoming, Alfred will start their E8 campaign. On September 27th, the Pios will head to Utica, NY to take on the Pioneers of Utica University at 1 pm. Then on October 4th, the Mustangs from SUNY Morrisville comes to Alfred for a game at noon.
After a week six bye, the Pioneers will head to Brockport, NY to take on SUNY Brockport on October 18th at noon. Alfred State will then get a three-week home stay starting on the 25th of October with a game against Hartwick at 4 pm. Then the reigning E8 Champions will come to town on November 1st for a game that starts at 1 pm. This will mark the first time Alfred State and Cortland met on the football field. The following week on November 8th, the Saxons from Alfred University will cross the street for the Alfred Cup game. Kickoff for the Alfred Cup will be at 1 pm, this will also be Senior Night for the Pioneers. Then in the final week of the regular season November 15th, the Pio will head to Rochester, NY to take on St. John Fisher for the first time since 2015. Kickoff for this game will be at noon.
