Pittsford, NY- The Alfred State football team drops regular season finale 41-14 against St. John Fisher. The Pioneers finished the year 5-5 overall and 3-4 in conference play.
Justin Horvath went 20-31 for 141 yards and a touchdown, while
Noah Currier led the rushing attack with 163 yards on 29 carriers with a touchdown. On the defensive side of the ball,
Aaron Ellis tallied nine tackles and forced a fumble, while
Chris Bergman and
Ryan Heinz notched six tackles each.
The Pioneers opened the game by scoring a touchdown on their first drive. Currier scored on a 57-yard rushing touchdown to take a 7-0 lead. Fisher tied the game with a touchdown of their own. Alfred State regained the lead after a 13 play 71-yard drive that was capped off by a
Liam Rogers one yard touchdown reception. The Pio took the 14-7 lead into the second
quarter.
The Cardinals took the momentum as the score 24 points in the second while holding the Pioneers scoreless in the quarter, to a 31-14 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Fisher added 10 more points to their lead, while continuing to hold off the Pioneers offense to take the 41-14 victory.
