Alfred, NY- This week's Pioneer Athletes of the Week are Sarah Somers (Women's Basketball) and Sean Malenfant (Men's Wrestling).

Sarah Somers (Whitney Point, NY, Whitney Point) led the Pioneers this week as she averaged 14.5 points while shooting 57.1% from the field, and grabbed five rebounds per game. In the game against Behrend, she tallied 19 points while grabbing seven rebounds. She followed with 10 points and three rebounds in a win over Pitt-Greensburg.
 

Sean Malenfant (Averill Park, NY, Averill Park) tallied five falls on his way to winning the bracket. On day one, he took down Sam Tignor (WL), and Julian Schott (Mary) with second round falls. Then in the quarterfinals, he notched a 2:46 fall over Jake Gross (URSI) to advance to day two in the champion's bracket. On day two, he took down Luke Theis (TCNJ) in 2:16 to move to the first- place match. In the finals match he notched a 1:44 fall over Xavier Pommells (Ithaca) to take the 184 championship title. This weekend Sean Malenfant went 4-0 and helped the Pioneers go 2-2 at the Kings duals.
