ALFRED, NY – Alise Shuart Barrett was introduced as the Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach at Alfred State College on Wednesday. A veteran coach and official, Barrett brings a broad array of experiences in the game to the Pioneers' program.
A former collegiate and high school head coach, Barrett ran the Ohio Wesleyan program from 1999 through 2003, advancing the Battling Bishops to the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championship Semifinals twice in her four years. She produced 15 Brine/IWLCA All-Region selections and 20 All-NCAC selections.
""I am excited to be back on the sidelines coaching," said Barrett. "When talking with Coach Peed, I learned he had a clear vision for the program and I knew I wanted to be a part of it. I look forward to guiding the student athletes to be better lacrosse players and people."
In addition to coaching at the college level, Barrett spent 16 seasons coaching at the Prep level between the Episcopal School of Dallas (Texas) and The Montclair Kimberly Academy (N.J.). She has been a certified official since 1993 and a USA Lacrosse Coach Development Program Master Trainer for 20 years. Barrett played her collegiate lacrosse at Kenyon.
"I couldn't be more excited to bring Alise into the program," said Head Coach, Steve Peed. "She is a proven leader who has been around the game in nearly every capacity, and our young women and I will all benefit greatly from her experiences, voice, and knowledge of the game."
Barrett begins her work with the Pioneers on Wednesday, October 29.
