Pios Fall To Bearcats

Salem, OR- The Alfred State baseball team dropped today's game against Willamette 12-3. The Pioneers fall to 4-10 on the season.

The Pioneers threw four arms today, with Daniel Lewis getting his first start. At the plate, Elijah Barinas went 3-3, with a stolen base, while Jack Curabba tallied two RBIs.

Tyler Petery led of the game with a single through the ride side, and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Petery would move over to third on a sacrifice bunt by Barinas. Curabba would then get his first RBI on a groundout to take the 1-0 lead.

The Bearcats tied the game at 1-1 in their half of the inning, but the Pios regained the lead scoring a run in the top of the second and third innings. In the top of the second with two outs, Devin Mersmann reached on an error, then stole second a few pitches later. The Pioneers would score on an RBI single from Anthony Snyder. Then in the third, Barinas led off with a single towards the shortstop. He would then advance to third on a throwing error. Curabba notched his second RBI on a sacrifice fly to take a 3-1 lead.

Willamette got their bats going to gain the lead and hold the Pios to just those three runs.
