Johnstown, PA-The Alfred State baseball battled but fell short in the AMCC Championship game to PS Behrend 12-6. The Pioneers finished the season with 19-27 overall record.
Game 10 – Alfred State 6 - PS Behrend 12
Anthony Snyder went 1-3 with a homerun and two RBIs.
Christian Morrison went 1-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Caleb Wilson suffered the loss on the mound.
The Lions jumped out to an early 2-0 after scoring two runs in the bottom of the second. After some scoreless innings, the Pioneers tied the game in the top of the fifth.
Anthony Snyder led off with a solo blast to left center to make it a 2-1 game. Two batters later,
Aiden Cowburn reached on a field choice.
Christian Morrison followed with a double deep in the left center gap that allowed Cowburn to score from first to tie the game, 2-2.
PS Behrend regained the lead in the bottom half of the fifth as they got two runs across. ASC answered with four runs in the top of the sixth to take their first lead of the game.
Sean Connor led off the at-bat with a double to right center, before a hit by pitch and a
Matty Eygabroad single loaded the bases. Snyder got an RBI from a hit by pitch and Lutz tied the game at 4-4 with an RBI sacrifice fly. After another hit by pitch reloaded the bases, a Morrison RBI fielder's choice gave Alfred State their first lead of the game, 5-4. Grad followed with an RBI single to right field made it a 6-4 lead.
The Lions tied the game in the bottom of the sixth, before taking the lead with run in the seventh and five runs in the eighth, 12-6. The Pioneers looked too make another late game push but could not get any closer as the Lions got the win.
