Game Notes:
- Alfred State and Husson battle for the third straight season and for the 4th time overall. The Eagles won a 34-28 overtime contest last season at Husson.
- Both teams fell in their 2015 season openers last weekend. Alfred St. fell 41-20 at home to William Paterson while Husson fell 39-25 vs. Alfred University at home. Both the Pioneers and Eagles held double-digit 1st half leads only to see their opponents rally.
- Jason McMahon came off the bench for Alfred State and had a big day. He finished 16 for 23 for 172 yards and two scores (40-yard & 49-yard).
- John Garbowski had a big day defensively. He made 10 tackles (2 sacks) and intercepted a pass that he returned 54-yards for a score.
- The Pioneer defense recorded four sacks, intercepted a pass, and recovered a fumble last week. In 2014, the team recorded just two sacks all year and had four interceptions.
- Kicker/Punter Zack Goodwin and McMahon were named USCAA Players of the Week.
- Senior QB Joe Seccareccia passed for 258 yards and three scores in their season opener last week. He connected with Deon Wiggins four times for 134 yards and two scores.
- The Eagles were slowed down by four turnovers (2 interceptions and 2 fumbles).
- Ellis Throckmorton and Kenny Sweet had big numbers vs. AU last weekend. Throckmorton made 13 tackles and forced a fumble while Sweet had 11 tackles and forced two fumbles.
- Husson is the defending ECFC Champion and played in the NCAA III Tournament last season.
