Box Score Greenville, PA- The Alfred State Women's soccer team defeated Thiel on the road, 1-0. The Pioneers pick up their first win of the season and move to 1-0-1 to begin the season.
 
Kaitlyn Howell scored the lone goal of the match. Isabella Hoffmann and Regan Curabba both ripped off four shots each. Madeline Cox started the game and goal and recorded three saves in the first half. Savannah Picha held down the goal in the second half for ASC.
 
Alfred State started the game on the front foot as Howell as able to give the Pioneers the early 1-0 lead just 54 seconds in. Both sides fired off multiple shots but were unable to change the scoreline in the first half as the Pios took the 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
 
The Pioneers were able to get the best of the Tomcats in the second half, tallying 11 shots to Thiel's three. In the 55^thminute Baylee Hayes was the closest to finding the net as she ripped a shot off the near post and out. The Pioneers defense held strong the rest of the match to hold on for the 1-0 victory. 
 
Alfred State continues their road trip next at Keuka College on Tuesday, September 8^th for a 7pm kickoff.
