Keuka Park, NY – The Alfred State women's soccer team used a dominant first-half performance to defeat Keuka 3-1 on Tuesday. With the victory, the Pioneers improve to 2-0-1 on the season.
Regan Curabba led the Pioneer offense with a pair of first-half goals, while
Isabella Hoffmann also found the back of the net.
Kaitlyn Howell recorded an assist, and
Madeline Cox earned the win in goal after making four saves.
Curabba opened the scoring in the fifth minute, capitalizing on a rebound from Hoffmann's shot to give Alfred State an early 1-0 lead.
After some back-and-forth action, Hoffmann was able to break away from the Wolves and find the back of the net to make it a 2-0 Pioneer lead.
Just 10 minutes later, Curabba struck again in the 35th minute, netting her second goal of the match and giving Alfred State a commanding 3-0 lead heading into halftime.
Keuka got on the board in the second half, but the Pioneers' defense held firm and prevented any further comeback attempt. Alfred State went on to secure the 3-1 victory.
Alfred State will be back in action on September 12
th as they return home to host SUNY Geneseo at 1 pm.
