Pioneers Dominate Bobcats Behind Hargathers Six-Goal Performance

Alfred, NY- The Alfred State Women's Lacrosse team picked up a big win on their home turf against the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats today, 15-4. The Pioneers are now 6-2 on the season.
 
Karlee Hargather dominated on the field today as she netted six goals while assisting five and tallied six ground balls. Kari Annunziato added in her own four goals while assisting with one. Alaina Gernatt and Katerina Strong both threw in a pair of goals and Brooke Walsh netted one of her own.
 
The first goal of the game was scored by Annunziato assisted by Strong at the five-minute mark of the first quarter. Hargather responded shortly after with her first of the game, unassisted. The Bobcats were able to attack quickly in the second quarter as they tied the game with two goals, 2-2. Annunziato fired back with two consecutive goals, both assisted by Hargather to put the Pios up by two. Wesleyan managed to net another goal, but ASC responded by recording three more goals before half from Strong, Annunziato and Gernatt, 7-3.
 
Hargather came into the third quarter with strong back-to-back goals in the 13th minute of play. She would then assist a goal by Walsh only seconds later. Strong was slated a solid pass from Allison Bateson to net yet another Pioneer goal, 11-3. Hargather garnered her last two goals of the game as well as Gernatt contributing her second. The Bobcats were unable to make a late comeback but tacked on one more goal to put the final score at 15-4, Pioneers taking home the win.
 
ASC will host the Buffalo State Bengals on Tuesday, March 24th with a start time of 7 pm!
