Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Elijah Adams

Pioneers Fall to Panthers

Bradford, PA – The Alfred State men's basketball team suffered a 118-92 loss to the Pitt-Bradford Panthers on Saturday. Alfred falls to 5-16 overall, 3-8 in conference play.

Elijah Kioko had a strong performance, recording his second double-double as a Pioneer with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Kennyh Hardeman was the leading scorer for the Alfred offense, delivering 19 points, shooting an accurate 7-11 from the field.

The Pioneers offense had a rough start as they trailed 15-5 in the opening minutes of the game. Through efforts from Kioko, Hardeman and JJ Howard, the Pioneers begin to find their rhythm. Ben Sneddon drilled a three almost midway through the half to help build momentum, 21-14. Through more back-and-forth action, Mykell Lawson found a mid-range jumper following a Kioko jam to pull the Pioneers to within two baskets, 23-19. The Panthers were able to respond with a decisive run to pull away 64-44 entering the halftime break.

In the final half, the Pioneers continued their efforts as a team to bridge the gap. Despite Kioko and Hardeman leading the offensive efforts, Alfred fell short 118-92.

The Pioneers will head to Cresson, PA next where they will face Mount Aloysius. Tipoff is on Saturday, February 7th at 3pm.
