Alfred, NY- The Alfred State women's soccer team suffered a loss to the Highlanders 3-0. After the loss, Pios fall to 4-4 on the season. 

Madeline Cox registered four saves on the day. Issabella Hoffman had four shots on goal as well. 

Both teams spent the beginning of the first half battling, but Houghton was able to strike first late in the 8th minute for a 1-0 lead over Alfred that continued into halftime. Karlee Hargather and Hoffman were both able to find a look at the goal before the half but were unsuccessful.  

In the second half, Houghton found their way to two more goals in the 72nd and 78th minutes. Despite the 3-0 lead, the Pioneers looked to shorten the gap but fell short as they lost the game.  

Pios will hit the road next to face off against the Carlow Celtics. Kickoff is set for Saturday, September 27th at 5pm.
