Alfred, NY – The Alfred State Women's Soccer team came out strong against Thiel College and scored two goals in the first three minutes of the game. Securing the 5-2 win over the Tomcats on Homecoming. The Pioneers move to 4-3 on the season.

Alfred State controlled the ball on offense, totaling 40 shots and 24 on goal. Two minutes into the game, Erin Drewiega passed the ball through the middle of the Tomcats' defense to give Karlee Hargather a fast break and score the first goal for the Pioneers. Drewiega then stole the ball off a pass back to Thiel's goalie and scored, making it 2-0 just three minutes into the game.

Two minutes into the second half, Hargather got her second goal of the game. Later on, Alfred State would let Thiel score their first goal, making the score 3-1. That would not stop the Pioneers' momentum. Kaitlyn Howell would find the back of the net in the 80th minute, assisted by Emily Collins. In the 82nd, Howell would score again, assisted by Elle Ingraham. Thiel got their second goal off a penalty kick in the 86th minute, making the final score 5-2.

Alfred State looks to continue this momentum into their final non-conference game on September 23rd at 7 pm when they take on Houghton University at Pioneer Stadium.
