Alfred, NY- The Alfred State men's lacrosse team advances to the AMCC Championship game after taking down the fourth seed La Roche Red Hawks, 23-4. The Pioneers move to 8-6 on the season.
The Pios were led by
Griffin Doan and
Dom Rosettie. Doan netted six goals with four coming in the second half and three assists. While, Rosettie scored five goals as he netted five goals with two assists.
Mike Wojcik and
Colby Pasiut notched hat tricks.
Jeremy Nunez picked up the win in goal as he tallied two saves.
The Red Hawks got on the board first with a goal. Rosettie answered 40 seconds later with a goal to tie the game at 1-1. LRC regained the lead in a goal before Wojick netted a goal to tie the game at 2-2. The Redhawks were able to score one more goal a few minutes later, but ASC scored back-to-back goals to take a 4-3 lead into the second quarter.
The Pioneers took a commanding lead in the second quarter after scoring nine goals and holding LRC scoreless. Rosettie and Doan put in back-to-back goals for the 6-3 lead in the first minute.
Jesse Young would find the back of the net a few minutes later off a pass from Wojcik. Wojick and Young made it a 9-3 game. Rosettie followed with back-to-back goals for the 11-3 lead. The Pioneers scored two more goals late in the quarter for the 13-3 lead into the half.
In the second half the Pioneers continued to dominate and control the game as they held the Redhawks to a singular goal while scoring nine goals.
The Pioneers will host the AMCC Championship game Saturday May 3
rd at 1 pm. The Pioneers with face the winner of the Hilbert and Pitt Bradford game happening later tonight.
