Alfred, NY- Alfred State men's lacrosse team fell to the Trine Thunder in what was their first home game 24-3. Alfred falls to 1-2 on the season after the loss.
Griffin Doan for the Pios tallied one goal, an assist, and picked up four ground balls. Alongside him,
Mike Wojcik tallied a goal of his own while grabbing five ground balls. Bradyn Nugent tallied a goal as well.
For the first quarter, the Thunder got ahead early as they had a 9-0 lead heading into the second period.
After Trine netted three more goals in the second, Nugent answered with a goal for the Pios at 2:25. Doan assisted the goal after snatching a ground ball. Alfred continued to trail entering the second half.
At 11:56 in the third period,
Luca Campanelli won the face off that led to Doan's fifth goal of the season so far. Alfred's final score came late in the fourth period and was scored man-up by
Mike Wojcik. Pioneers were unable to stop the bleeding as they fell 24-3.
Pioneers will head to North Adams, MA next game where they will play MCLA. Face-off is set to begin on Saturday, March 8 at 1pm. Â
