Berea, OH- The Alfred State men's wrestling team took seventh at the John Summa Invite. The Pioneers had five place finishers.
Mason Drew (125) and
Brent Perry (197) were the highest place finishers as they took third place in their respective classes. Drew opened the day with a 12-3 major decision win over Carl Santariello (St. John Fisher). He followed with a 9-3 decision win over Edward Alizio (Case Western Reserve). After suffering a loss in his next match, he rebounded with a 22-5 tech fall win in 4:47 over Caiden Harbert (West Liberty) for a spot in the third-place match. In that matched he took his second tech fall win of the day over Edward Alizio (Case Western Reserve), 16-0 to take third place.
In the 197 bracket, Perry suffered a loss in his opening match. He followed with a 10-4 decision win over Nathan Coon (St. John Fisher). After notching back-to-back falls over Judson Ferris (St. John Fisher) in 2:28 and Geoffry Kaminsky (Ohio Wesleyan) in 2:43, he earned a spot in the third-place match. In that match, he took a 5-3 decision win over Simon Lingle (Brockport) for third place.
