Alfred, NY- Alfred State women's basketball team suffered a loss against the Lions 91-49. After the loss, Pios fell to 6-18 on the season.
Taylor Searle led the way with 15 points along with seven boards. Josie Barton followed along with 13 points, four assists and five rebounds.
The beginning of the first quarter was a slow start for Alfred. Searle provided the Pios with their first points as she scored in the paint (8-2). Sarah Somers then followed up with a layup also. After some time, Searle added another layup to her column for a total of three buckets for the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Barton kicked off the action with a shot from downtown. The Pios continued fighting to get back in the game before halftime. They entered the break trailing 54-24.
After the halftime break, Searle knocked down a three at 6:46 in the third quarter. Barton later went on to score off a drive to the hoop.
Pioneers wouldn't stop giving it their all for the rest of the game but fell short 91-49.
Pios will head to Pittsburgh, PA next to face off against Carlow. Tip off is set for Saturday, February 22 at 4pm.
