Greensburg, PA – The Alfred State men's basketball team fell to the Pitt–Greensburg Bobcats, 91-61. With the loss, Alfred drops to 2-9 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
Mykell Lawson led the Pioneers in scoring with 20 points, knocking down five three-pointers.
Darius Cunningham Jr. added 10 points and six rebounds, while
Elijah Kioko chipped in 10 points and five rebounds.
The Pioneers struck first to open the game as Lawson connected from beyond the arc to give Alfred an early 3-2 lead. However, Pitt–Greensburg quickly responded, going on a run to push the advantage to 16-8.
With 12:07 remaining in the first half, Alfred began to regain some momentum. Kioko and Cunningham provided key baskets and energy, cutting the deficit to 23-18. The Bobcats answered with a strong finish to the half, extending their lead to 48-31 at the break.
In the second half, Alfred continued to battle despite trailing. Lawson, Cunningham, and Kioko each made contributions, but the Pioneers were unable to overcome Pitt–Greensburg's offensive surge, ultimately falling 91-61.
Alfred will head to Potsdam, NY next where they will face off against Clarkson Univeristy. Tipoff is set for Monday, December 15th at 12pm
