Alfred, NY- The Alfred State women's soccer team dominated the turf in the first round of the AMCC Championship Tournament against the #6 seed La Roche, bringing home the 3-0 win.
Â
The Pioneers hit the board first in the 27
th minute as
Ava Bruehwiler notched her second goal of the season, assisted by
Kaitlyn Howell and
Jillian Wright. The RedHawks would then keep the Pios at bay for the remainder of the first half. One goal wasn't enough for ASC to feel comfortable, therefore the Pioneers offense continued to take critical shots on the La Roche goal.
Â
It wasn't until the 80
th minute that
Isabella Hoffmann found the back of the net. Less than five minutes later in the 83
rd minute, Hoffmann would once again net a crucial and final goal for the Pios, assisted by
Karlee Hargather. The Redhawks only managed to take three shots, all of which were saved by
Madeline Cox as she picks up another win in the net.
Â
The Pioneers will return to action on Wednesday as they hit the road to take on the #2 seed, Pitt-Greensburg for the semi final match-up. Kick off time is to be determined.
