Alfred, NY – The Alfred State women's soccer team came out victorious in their AMCC matchup against the Hilbert Hawks 4-0. After their fifth consecutive conference win, Alfred moves to 9-4 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
Leading the way for Alfred, Isabella Hoffmann delivered another brace while shooting just five shots. Following, Karlee Hargather set a new school record as she registered two assists in the game for a career total of 22. Madeline Cox turnt away six shots on the day as well.
In the first half, the Pioneers came out of the gate swinging as they scored within the first thirty seconds of the action. Hoffmann rifled one into the net from the high center off an assist from Erin Drewiega. A few minutes later at 2:40, Brooke Walsh shot a header off a corner pass from Hargather for the 2-0 advantage, and the record-breaking assist. In the 21st minute, Hargather would extend her record with another assist, after Hoffmann received a pass from her for a high left shot into the back of the net. The Pioneers surge in momentum came to after Jillian Wright netted a shot off a Kaitlyn Howell pass for the 4-0 advantage heading into halftime.
The Pioneers spent the final half the game holding the Hawks at bay to take the game 4-0. Madeline Cox continued to turn away shots as she registered the shut out.
Alfred will remain at home to face off against the Penn Altoona Lions. Kickoff is set for Saturday, October 18 at 1pm.
