Alfred, NY- The Alfred State Women's Soccer team took down Canton in today's match up, 2-1. The Pioneers advance to 2-2-1 on the season.
The Pioneers struck first with a with an early goal by Allison Lundmark, assisted by Amelia Rose in the 4th minute of the game.
Canton was hungry to tie it up before the half. The Roo's were able to tie it up with a goal in the top left corner, in the 35th minute. After the first 45, we were all tied up 1-1 at half.
Alfred came out hot for the second half scoring another goal in the upper left corner. Off a pass from Karlee Hargather, Ava Bruehwiler scored the goal with 50:21 left on the clock.
The Pioneers were able to hold off the Kangaroo's in today's match with a final of 2-1. As the Pio's take this one, Kate Sproul had a save on the day while Caton took 3 shots. The Roo's had 6 saves while Alfred State had 11 shots throughout the game.
Alfred State will take on Elmira at their place next Tuesday, September 17th at 5PM to get redemption after a tough battle last year.
