Alfred, NY- The Alfred State Men's Basketball team took home a huge conference win today against the Redhawks, 60-57. The Pioneers are now 2-7 on the season, 1-1 in conference play.Â

The Pioneers were led by Mike Miller who notched 20 points, three steals and three rebounds on the night.
Darius Cunningham Jr. was also a brutal force defensively for the Pios as he notched 10 rebounds and scored six points.

The Redhawks came out strong in the beginning of the 1
st half, immediately tallying six points. The Pios were quick to fight back as Miller notched a layup and a three pointer. The Pioneers would then go on a 10-point rally that was initiated by a
Jacob Gonzalez layup in the paint, to put them up 23-11. At the end of the first half, ASC was up by 16 points, 34-18.

The Pios continued their momentum into the second half as they kept a good 10–15-point lead on La Roche. With seven minutes left in the game, the Redhawks cut the score down to only a five-point lead, 49-44. As time dwindled on the clock, La Roche was able to make it a tie game 53-53 with three minutes left. After a timeout from Alfred, Miller found the basket with eight seconds left putting the Pios back up 58-57. To secure the win,
Avery Cunningham stole the ball from a Redhawk inbound which led him to get fouled, followed by two good free-throws. This left La Roche with no time to make a comeback as the Pioneers secured the win, 60-57.
