Cobleskill, NY-The Alfred State men's basketball team faltered in a close matchup against the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers, falling 67-58. The Pioneers falls to 2-8 on the season.
Michael Miller led the team in points with 18, going 5-15 from the field and 2-6 from 3-point range. He was followed by
Mason Putnam with 16 points while
Dylan Perry added seven points of his own. Off the bench,
Mekhi Belcher led the team in rebounds with 11, as well as notching two blocks.
The first half was hard-fought, with both teams trading buckets until the final minutes when Alfred State was able to pull ahead slightly, to take a 27-24 lead into the break.
Going into the second half, the Pios couldn't put the Fighting Tigers in the rear-view mirror, allowing Cobleskill to climb back and take the late lead. The Fighting Tigers were able to hold off the Pioneers offense from there to get the 67-58 win.
Alfred State will be back in action on Tuesday, December 17
th where they will take on Clarkson University at home. This home game against the Golden Knights will be their last of 2024.
