Alfred, NY- The Alfred State men's basketball team dropped a hard-fought game against Alfred University, 88-76. The Pioneers fall to 0-1 on the season.
Michael Miller led the way with 24 points and five rebounds, while Darius Cunningham Jr added 13 points.
After some back-and-forth action to start the game, the Saxons put a few possessions together to take a 10-point lead into half.
Following the break, Braedyn Chambry opened the second half with a lay up off a Dylan Perry assist. A few possessions later, Cunningham Jr knocked down a three to cut the deficit to single digits, 50-41. That was the closest the Pioneers got as the Saxons were able to hold off the Pios offense to get the win.
The Pioneers will host Mount Union, Tuesday November 12th at 7 pm for their home opener.
