Keuka Park, NY- The Alfred State Women's basketball team could not make the comeback they were looking for against the Keuka Wolves resulting in a loss, 59-47. This brings their record to 1-6.
Sarah Somers led the Pioneers on the floor in tonight's match-up with 12 points and three rebounds.
Taylor Benjamin was right behind Somers with eight points and eight rebounds.
Mary Gibson dominated on the Pios defense, grabbing 10 rebounds for herself.
ASC took control first as
Taylor Searle and Benjamin both made in the paint jumpers. Keuka would then find their momentum and go on a run, closing out the first quarter, 13-7. The Pioneers picked up their pace in the 2
nd quarter off a
Jenna George jumper followed by a layup in the paint by Benjamin and Searle. With more dominance underneath and important free-throws made, the Pios went into halftime trailing five points, 26-21.
The Wolves continued with force after half even when the Pios tried to fight back as they went on to a 59-47 win.
