Alfred, NY- The Alfred State men's basketball dropped a hard fought battle against SUNY Geneseo 75-70. The Pioneers fall to 1-4 on the season.
Dylan Perry led the offense with 25 points. Michael Miller was right behind with 16 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Darius Cunningham had nine points, six rebounds and four assists. Â Chambry contributed nine board for the Pios.
In the first half, the Knights and the Pioneers traded buckets before Geneseo ended the half with a nine-point lead, 39-30.
The Pioneers opened the second half hot, with a three from Darius Cunningham then back-to-back threes from Mason Putnam to cut the deficit down to three, 42-39. After getting a stop, Perry would put in a lay up to make it a one-point game, 42-41. Following more back-and-forth action, the Pios went on a 7-0 run to take a 52-51 lead. The Knights followed with a run of their own to regain the lead, 69-61, with six minutes left. The Pioneers kept their composer getting a stop that led to a deep three from Miller.
