Newburgh, NY- The Alfred State men's basketball team picked up their first win of the season as they take down Mt. St. Mary, 108-75. The Pioneers move to 1-3 on the season.
Darius Cunningham Jr. led the way for the Pioneers as he put in a career-best 22 points and five rebounds. Ben Sneddon also had a good game as he added 21 points, while Dylan Perry put in 19 points of his own.
Michael Miller opened the scoring for the Pios with a three followed by a lay up a few possessions later. From there, the Pioneers extended their lead to double figures behind three straight threes by Sneddon, 36-23. Before halftime, Miller knocked down a three to send the Pios into the break with a 49-33.
The Pioneers hot streak from behind the arch continued in the second half as they hit 11 more threes as they would go on to win 108-75. This marks Austin Buschang's first win as a head coach and as a Pioneer. Alfred State will return home Thursday Nov 21 at 7 pm as they take on SUNY Geneseo.
