Alfred, NY- The Alfred State Women's wrestling team placed second out of seven teams in the Pioneer Open today.

Yaletsy Tamayo took 1^st place in the 207 bracket,  after going 3-0 on the day. She opened the day with a 59 second fall over Fiona Kelly (Buffalo State). She followed with a 1:51 fall over Kai Douglas (Buffalo State). Her final fall came over Hannah Grawn in the first-place match in 2:14. Grawn would finish in 2^nd place in the bracket after tallying two falls on the day as well.

Dianna Pineda placed 4^th overall in the 124 weight class. Anna Sheahan placed 5^th in the 131. Brooke Walsh finished 3^rd in the 138, Ethe Hemphill coming in at 5^th place in the same weight class. Allison Strausbaugh came in at 4^th place in the 145, Emily Brown right behind her in 5^th place. 
 
The Pios will be back on the mat next weekend for a dual match in York, PA and then they will head over to Millersville, PA for the Millersville Open on Sunday.
