Pioneers in 6th after Day One of ECAC Championships

The Alfred State men's track & field team sits in 6th place after day one action of the 2019 ECAC Championships at Southern Connecticut State.

In the 10,000, Matthew Connolly (Elmira Notre Dame) was 2nd in 36:51.62 while Joe Kretschmar (Phoenix, AZ) was 4th in 38:33.94.

Paul Kemsley (Lancaster) was 6th in the hammer throw with a toss of 41.54., Zion Ponder was 8th in the triple jump with a mark of 12.96 m., and Austin Demberg (Minisink Valley) was 8th in the steeplechase in 11:18.88

After the first five events of the decathlon, Jacob Wadsworth (Dansville) leads the field with 3,430 points. He had the best individual performances in four of the five events. He scored 795 points in the 100 (11.30), 746 points in the long jump (6.71 m), 767 points in the high jump (1.96), and 744 points in the 400 (51.57). He leads by 446 points heading into the final five events.

The Pioneers sit in 6th place out of 17 teams that have scored after day one action. The Pioneers have scored 18 points thus far.

The action continues tomorrow with the multi events starting at 10 a.m.
