Owen Albers is entering his second season as the Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers Coach here at Alfred State College. Coach Albers returns after a two year stint coaching the Defensive Backs at his alma mater, Ohio Wesleyan.
In the 2024 season, Coach Albers helped the Pioneers secure their second straight ECFC title and NCAA playoffs berth. The Pioneers defense was ranked in the top-20 for Red Zone Defense, and Passes Intercepted. The Pioneers defense saw players earn ECFC First-Team All-Conference Honors, while Silas Egenlauf was tabbed as the ECFC Defensive Player of the Year.
During his time at Ohio Wesleyan, Coach Albers worked primarily with the Battling Bishop’s Safeties. He also served as the program’s Director of Football Operations. During his tenure at his alma mater, two of his Defensive Backs received All-Conference honors along with one of his student-athletes earning All-Region recognition.
During his first stint at Alfred State, Coach Albers coached the Defensive Backs. Three Pioneer Defensive Backs were named to ECFC All-Conference Team, one of which was the ECFC leader in interceptions.
Albers graduated from Ohio Wesleyan in 2022. He has a Bachelors degree in Sports and Exercise Management. As a player, Albers received post season All-Conference and All-Region honors as a senior. During his senior season, Albers shared the North Coast Athletic Conference lead for forced fumbles and was second in the conference in interceptions.
Albers is a native of North Ridgeville, Ohio which is in the Cleveland metropolitan area.
