2026 Men's and Women's Cross Country Season Preview

Alfred, NY- The Alfred State Men's & Women's Cross Country teams are gearing up for the 2026 season.

Head Coach Tim Giagios is excited about the transition to the SUNYAC Conference and the opportunities the upcoming season presents.

The move to the SUNYAC Conference will provide a major boost in competition. I believe most of our returners are ready for that and are looking forward to it. On the men's side, we have a core of newcomers that are working well together and have the coaching staff excited to see how they perform. Our women's side is growing but is still competitive. We brought in some new life that has the talent to make a statement in our first year in the conference. This is a great time for us to make this move and up the level of competitiveness.

The 2026 season begins with a trip to Brockport, NY, where the teams will compete in the Tom Bolon Alumni Classic on September 5.

The Pioneers will then travel to the University of Rochester for the Yellowjacket Invitational on September 19.

Postseason preparation begins with a trip to Fredonia, NY, for the NCAA Pre-Regional meet on October 2. The meet will also serve as Alfred State's Alfred Cup event. Two weeks later, the teams will compete in the Mike Woods Invitational at SUNY Geneseo on October 16.

The next race on the schedule is the SUNYAC Cross Country Championships, hosted by SUNY Oneonta on October 31.

The last set event of the season will be the NCAA Niagara Regional Championships in Fredonia, NY, on November 14. If any of the Pioneers qualify for the NCAA National Championship meet, they will head to Northfield, MN (Huyck Championship Course) on November 21st.
