Alfred, NY- The Alfred State Men's soccer team took a tough loss at home to the visiting RIT Tigers, 2-0. The Pioneers drop to 0-4-2 on the season.
Ryan Masi registered two shots for the Pios while
Logan Bickel and
Tommy Dimaggio tallied the only two shots on target for Alfred State. Lukas Banduski stopped four of six shots in-between the pipes.
In the first half of action the Tigers held most of the possession but couldn't generate any valuable opportunities as the ASC defensive line held strong. The deadlock was breached in the 43
rd minute as RIT squared a through ball across the box finding an open teammate on the back post for the 1-0 halftime lead in favor of the visitors.
In the second half, the Pios battled through adversity as they were continuously met with pressure from the Tigers, while being outshot 9-2 in the second frame. RIT was awarded a penalty kick for a handball in the penalty area in the dying minutes of the match as the Tigers slotted their opportunity away ultimately finishing the game by handing the Pioneers a 2-0 defeat.
