Alfred, NY- The Alfred State men's soccer team took an early lead but ultimately fell to SUNY Geneseo 3-1, on Wednesday evening at Pioneer Stadium. The Pioneers move to 0-3-2 on the season.

Josh Lewandusky scored the lone goal for Alfred State, while Lukas Bandurski made five saves in goal for the Pioneers.

Alfred State came out aggressively and established an early presence, earning a corner kick in the opening 11 minutes before Lewandusky put the Pioneers on the board during the 18th minute. The goal gave Alfred State a 1-0 advantage, and the Pioneers continued to create opportunities throughout the remainder of the half. Colin Martin and Tommy Dimaggio each put a shot on goal, but Geneseo goalkeeper Max Crothall turned both attempts away.

Bandurski and the Alfred State defense kept Geneseo off the scoreboard in the opening half, with Bandurski making four saves before the half. The Pioneers carried their 1-0 lead into halftime despite Geneseo holding a 6-4 advantage in shots.

Geneseo came out of the break looking to even the match, but Bandurski continued to keep the Knights within one, making a save on a shot from Lewandusky in the 58th minute. Geneseo eventually found the equalizer in the 63rd minute when Jace DiPalo scored to make it a 1-1 match.

The Knights took their first lead of the evening in the 68th minute when Evan Zavalo found the back of the net. Alfred State continued to battle and create chances, including shots from Logan Bickel and Drew Ahlstrom, but Geneseo goalkeeper Crothall made huge saves to hold the Knights advantage.

Geneseo added to their lead with a goal in the 86th minute when Feranc Bagi scored to make it 3-1. The Pioneers continued to push in the final minutes, but were unable to find a second goal.

Alfred State finished the night with eight shots, including five on goal, while Bandurski recorded five saves in the match. The Pioneers also earned three corner kicks compared to Geneseo's six.

The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, September 19^th when they host RIT. Kickoff is scheduled for 1PM.
